First try at casting, want to get a 325 gr for my Freedom Arms 454 7-1/2 magna-ported. This is what I've found, am I getting close or ? Pretty cool website, real time drawing update when you make changes.

Al, you may want to consider getting your as cast diameter at .452 instead of .453. The throats and groove dia. on FA revolvers are .451. This is what I size my bullets to (.451) and get excellent results in the accuracy department. Sizing big bullets with lots of surface area down .002 is quite tiring.

I have two molds from LBT, one is 320gr, the other is 370gr. Also one mold from Magma Engineering a custom cut 360gr Keith style. All of them shoot extremely well in the FA.1" to11/2" 5 shot groups out of my Ransom rest at 100yds. My Ruger 45 Colt shoots them well also though not quite as accurately (2" to 3" at 100yds) I size the bullets for the FA at .451 and the ones for the Ruger I shoot as cast at .452 and just lube them. I also have a 265gr Lyman mold made especially for the .454 Casull. Its about 12 or 13 years old and I do not know if it is still made. It shoots extreamly well also.

Al, I was looking at LBT's web-sight and they are offering an exact copy of Keith's bullet in .45cal. 270gr. any dia. you want to drop. A two cavity mold is 125$

Yes. They offer an LFN style starting at 260gr and go to 380gr in 20gr increments. I have had nothing but great success with LBT molds,and even run them in my master caster with great results.

you may want to check out NEI as another option.
They have several catalouged in the range your looking for , and will make anything you want.
I have a Keith 115 grn for my 32-20 and an 250 grn LFN for my 338.
They cast like a dream.

Did you ever get a .45 mold like you were looking for ?
I'm usually casting like crazy this time of year while it's nice and cool.
But we had a lay off where I work , and we went from 12 hours a day, 3 on and 3 off , to 6 , eight hour days.
Plus I got bumped off my gravy job.
So I haven't had the time or energy to do much of anything.
I've told my self I'm just lucky to have a job so many times I'm sick of hearing it.
It's sickening to have all this stuff and no time to use it.
My dogs are lonely ,and my Guns , molds , and reloading goods are getting dusty.
Maybe when the time changes I can get back at it.
Let me know how your casting goes.
Turning out batches of near perfect bullets , then connecting with them at long range with a good Sixgun , is the most challenging and rewarding things I've ever tried.
Down, but not out.

Haven't yet, still looking for a good deal. May just have to order a new setup. Did get a blast shield mounted on the hydraulic press last night, knock out some rocket motors until I get my casting set up.

I want to start casting for my 44 I have more guns in that caliber than any between the magun and specials. I am still researching and any thoughts would be great. I would like to have an all purpose bullet in 240-275 any thoughts.

For an over the counter mold I like the RCBS 44-250K.
It's close to what Mr. keith called for from Lyman but did not get way back when.
Mine cast great and shoot even better.
I have a pair of the Ruger 50 year flat top .357s and a pair of the 50 year .44 mags that I sent one each to Hamiliton Bowen.
I had him convert the .357 to .44 spcl ,and do his Western Classic job on it and the .44 mag.
I also added Bisley hammers and had him send them to Turnbull for case color .
With the Rcbs bullet the .44 spcl. will do 6 shots in an inch from 80' ,@ 900 fps, and I hardly ever miss a gallon jug from 100 yds,laying on my left side with the gun in my right hand resting on my right knee shooting the 44 mag @ 1350 fps.
I usually keep them in 3' or so from off hand between 200 and 300 yds.
I've shot a lot of XTPs and Gold Dots with different loads in those two guns and they don't do hardly as well.
