I was wondering about the accuracy of military ammo, in this case  DEN 42 30-06.
I have been getting about 4" groups at 100 yds.
Should this ammo do better or is it just me?
Saur 200, Leopold 3/9 and a very steady rest.
later, ace

I hope you have a nice recoil pad and a vented bolt. If that stuff is actually 68 years old I can imagine the powder has deteriorated a bit, and that usually means hotter and ?!?. How do they extract, how do the primers look, and how are your groups with good quality ammo? (and why are you subjecting a nice rifle like that to anything but premium ammo?)

"DEN 42: 1942 production. Denver only produced 30-06 ammo during WWII so this is hard to find ammo......for the WWII collector... "
Bwaaaaaaa......

Well, primers look good, does'nt extract hard, does'nt kick hard, burns clean, and it is all I have with me.

This latest front is suppose to move out sometime around July...

PS, Nothing wrong with turning collector ammo into collector once fired brass I guess...

Well, to answer my own question about surplus ammo, I went out yesterday to try out some different ammo.
I had 3 different hand loads from way back when, and they all grouped about 2 inch.
That may not sound like much to some of you but for me that is damn good.
I even have some shake when using a rest.
thats it for now,   ace
