before you do anything to your gun, let me know. I will tell you if it is right or wrong, as I have done many 1911's, was trained by a fine gentleman that worked at Springfield Armory(the real one) building National Match 45's. He was double distinquished with the 45, and really showed me the ropes. My personal gun will shoot the center out of a target at 50 yards all day long, with no malfunctions, for any reason. This with stock G.I.Magazines.
I read the links credentials, and he is self taught. You can only learn so much that way, and definitly not enough to have a web site to instruct people how to work on their guns.
Just my 2 cents worth

10/4, but we all have to screw a couple up on our own before we get it right. I'm going to get some old barrels and other parts at the next show to practice on.

PS Blind Hog is going to put a link to us on his site, and I am adding his site to the "friends" list, unless anyone objects.
PPS lets get a site set up for Gunsmith.

The opinions expressed here are not necessarily those of the management....

Ok I will say this and its my opinion but if a person wants to try to do something they should and learn from thier mistakes.  I am no gunsmith but I can swap parts and have put together a 1911 or two from Caspian with the machine work done.  Kart makes EZ fit barrels.  Back when I was in the military one of my guns said they were "building" a 1911 with drop in parts and I told him there is no such animal.  I looked at the site and has a lot of good information.  I would not try machine work but some parts can be done with hand tools.  As I recall my Chief told me I could take more metal off but its a pain to put back on.  And work on the less expensive part whenever possible.
