I just brought a S&W 460 with a 2 3/4" barrel The squirrels are having at it so I thought it would be enough gun. I have not shot it and when thinking it over wonder why ? Maybe I could get S&W to put a little longer barrel on it and use the 454 loads
Anyone else have one ? Just curious __________________ If you are too open minded your brains will fall out |

Sell it and get a S&W 4" 44 and load up some lead semi wadcutters under a moderate stack of powder works for most everything . have a separate heavier load, & you'll be in good shape for all the things you need a six gun for. Or just shoot 45 Colt level loads out of it. Rob

Lynn It is good to see you still posting on the web. When things get more settled around the Simply Rugged compound, I'll be ordering some more bullets from you. Thanks, Rob

Hi Denny, Congratulations on your .460 ! Its gonna get your attention when you shoot it. I shot a friends .460 S&W with a 8 3/8" bbl and it came back pretty hard but didn't rise very high cause of the muzzle brake & the guns weight. Yours on the other hand, will really be a rip-snorten fire-breathing handful ! Shoot acouple at dusk & I bet you'll be flash blinded. Congratulations again on a fine handgun ! Chris |

Rob I hope they never slow for you. Sounds like business is good.
For those who don't know Rob, please check his site. I carry a 7 1/2" Blackhawk in one of his holsters. It's "Simply" [pun intented] great. __________________ God Bless,

I'd have to say if Creeker is packin with a "Simply Rugged", nothing else needs to be said on the subject. I Haven't tried this, but if you maintained muzzle velocity, would changing bullet weight change point of impact? That may be a way to download for practice without messing with the sights. __________________ “If it rolls, floats, flies or shoots, runs on gasoline or gunpowder, goes fast or shoots a big bullet and makes lots of noise, thus producing torque and recoil — it’s cool.”

Denny, As the members say "you have a cannon"- let me add how I took my S&W 460 with the standard 8 3/8" barrel to the range to chronograph some loads and the blast from the muzzle brake took off the front plate of the read out. Also took a nice whitetail using Hor. 200gr factory ammo but should have worn ear plugs as the noise can be tremendous in the thick woods. The Hornady 454 Casull factory ammo using their 240gr XTP/MAG bullet is listed at 1900FPS and when I fired five rounds through my 460 they averaged 1843FPS. If you deduct 50FPS for each inch less in barrel length with your shorter barrel I would say the same ammo in your gun would be in the 1300FPS range.Good luck. __________________ I have more guns then I need but not as many as I want. |

I have a 500 just a tad bigger in an 8 3/8" its a hand full with factory's but tamed it down a bit with Trail boss powder. James you hear something then you shoot at an animal, I hear others shoot in the woods but when I am lining up the shot and fire the gun I don`t hear the gun go off, anyone else experience this? __________________ Keep Busting Caps |
