Elmer must be happy, as his books are going for a price that is FANTASTIC. He is one of the most collected authors of all time, apearantly. His books are selling for 100 to 500 dollars apeice, in good shape, when you can find them, Just an article by him in a Magazine raises the value of the magazine substantally. We must be on to something. Of course the truth is never cheap, but always worth it.

Nice....
Getting a little jealous here.
Not sure if I could clear that big of a spot on my table, either.

Jelous indeed Sir. I have a good sized liberary and quite a few of Elmers books, but Sixguns is my favorite. In fact I think I have learned more and spent more hours enjoying that book than any other .

I have that same red and white jacket cover of Sixguns I purchased In a used bookstore in the late 70s for $5.00.  The best book buy I ever made.

I have a question on one of these books.
The small book, "SIXGUN CARTRIDGES...AND LOADS" printed by THOMAS G. SAMWORTH December, 1936 on the copyright page. The color of the cover is royal blue in Mr Gene Brown`s Book "ELMER KEITH the other side of a western legend" the chapter on Elmer's Books how many, how valuable, page 122 describes the book to a tee except the color of the cover it states that the color is orange to be the first edition it has to have the December 1936 date on the publishers page.
The dust jacket says you had to cough up $1.50 for the book, Really if Elmer only knew!!!
The dust jacket on the other small book the cost is $2.00 also published in 1936 by the same company
The blue book Big Game Rifles & Cartridges is a 1984 reprint of the second one.
Gun Notes one & two.
Shotguns by KEITH  copyright mcmlxvii
SIXGUNS and HELL I WAS THERE.
Can anyone tell me what I have,Bindery copy,Presentation copy, recovered original I don`t know.

FYI: Safari Press is offering a reprint of Gunnotes:Volume II for $35.00 plus s&h on their website-www.safaripress.com and after looking on Amazon, the original copies are $200.00 or more when available. I quickly reserved a copy. I already have Volume I and it is a good book for any Keith reader and I expect Volume II to be as good. When I was young I used to clip out the Gunnote articles from the magazine and save them in a folder, which I still have and keep with my Keith books to reread whenever I can. You just can't read too much of Elmer's works, they are that good.

A couple of years ago I was reading a book written by Gene West titled, "Elmer Keith, The Other Side of a Western Legend."

Mr. West listed the books Elmer Keith authored.  One of them is called, "The Redbook of Handguns" written in 1961.  That rang a bell.  I looked in my book case and I have it.

Sorry, wrong name of author.  The book I refer to in the previous post was written by Gene Brown not Gene West.
