If any of you have noticed, I've posted a couple of Hamilton Bowen articles on our sister site, sixguns.com. Ahh, what a coincidence...
Would Hamilton Bowen doing us up one of his works of art, a Keith #5 in 44 Special, on a Ruger Frame, for the raffle gun next year get some of you to drive a little further? (I thought so...)

Mark your calenders , June 5th, 2010

Also, trying to find an article by Brian Pierce on a similar project for some photos, think it was in Handloader, if anyone can locate it, send me the link please.

What are the details I need to know?  Cost, where do people stay, anything else that I'm sure I'll forget? And what distances are we shooting? I'm really thinking about shooting my commemorative it kills me leaving it in the box. I'm talking big now but I'll probably chicken out when the time comes. Thanks for all your help. This is probably the best firearms site I have ever seen, There isn't a bunch of Ego or arrogance. Great work Thanks, Don

We'll have to work on the ego's and arrogance a little bit. "Limited" primitive camping at the shoot, hotels around. Valleyford is 20-30 min south of Spokane. Targets, 3" round to 18X24 at the 150 yard line, 30X32 at the 600 yard mark. Donation suggested $35. Lots of info on the website if you take the time to go through it, the photos give a pretty good idea of the layout. We usually set up Friday AM, A few of us shoot practice Friday PM, general practice Saturday AM, shoot for score PM. Lying and bragging anytime, adult beverages only after cold range.

Little more info on the 2010 raffle gun. From monitoring top secret email transmissions, Mr Bowan is in possession of the ruger flattop 44 special and is awaiting a grip frame from Ron Powers.

How I would love to go to the shoot I don`t think it`s possiable however at the range I belong to there`s a fair amount of long range shooters that could be convinced to do a elmer shoot we have ranges out to 500yds what`s the layout and scoring in the nutshell if it gets too complacated they lose intrest too quick.

It's pretty informal. the 150 yard targets range from 16X24 down to a 3" plate. Out about 500-600 yards we put a 30X30. If I remember the scoring was 10000 points for the big rectangle, 15000 for the 16" round, 25000 for the 6" pipe, 50000 for the 8" plate and 100000 for the 3" plate, 500000 for the 600 yard target. double points if you call your shots. 1000 points for hitting the hillside. 12 rounds per shooter.  All the info is on the site, look at the photos and you will get the idea. Look around the range for anything close. We would be happy to help out, I might even show up!

I looked at the shoot photo`s again it looks like 3" then 6" spiners 6" pipe, 16" circle and in the middle is the big rectangle 16x24" this bank is placed at 150 yds and the 30x30 at 500yds looks like some time in the shop and I`ll have the banks done. Then see if I can spark some interest at the range! I`ll bet that when a few hits are made and seen thru a spotting scope outhers will step up and try a cylinder or two. Thanks marksman45b.

My pleasure! If it doesn't come out exactly the same I don't think anyone would mind! Spotting scopes are a must!
