I have recently started casting and have acquired two molds both are Lyman. I am wandering if anyone has used a 452423 mold before and if it can be used in 45 acp and if so should I size it to 452. Huck |

I use the Ideal (Lyman) 452423 in my 45 auto. Mine casts at 243 gr. from WW and I load with Unique I started at 5.5 gr and stopped at 6.0 gr. This gives me 860 fps in my gun. Oal is 1.200". no feed problems in any of my guns (3) but one of them with a factory bbl feeds pretty rough. I size to .451" or .452" I hope this helps, just remember as Elmer said "I accept no responsabilty for these loads except those I assemble myself" John |

I knew I maintain Sixguns for a reason! Thanks, Dale! Al __________________ “If it rolls, floats, flies or shoots, runs on gasoline or gunpowder, goes fast or shoots a big bullet and makes lots of noise, thus producing torque and recoil — it’s cool.”

Thanks for posting that link. I read that article shortly after I made this post. I have done alot of casting since this orignal post and only wish I had learned how earlier. I have been loading this bullet for my 45 colt and 45 acp and can now afford to shoot alot more. It fed flawlessly through the 1911 and I have worked up a couple really acurate loads for all my guns. Sixguns website is great I really enjoy all the articles on the site. Huck |
