Thank you, ace. At one time I owned a Super Blackhawk Bicentennial model. It was used as a trade in for the S&W Model 29.
In the late 1970's, after the first Dirty Harry movie came out, Model 29's were scarcer than a Republican on Pelosi's Christmas card list. I found one for sale in a wooden presentation box for $400, take it or leave it price, thank you very much. That was over $100 more than they listed for back then.
I didn't have many dollars and/or "sense" and decided I wanted a double action more than a single action. IIRC, I paid $220 and my Super Blackhawk and drove 125 miles back home with my new gun.
Now I only shoot cat-sneeze target loads in the 29, and relegate my Hammer-of-Thor handloads to my Redhawk. Years ago I also owned a Marlin Model 1894 lever action carbine. One time I decided to load up some blackpowder cartridges to try out in it. I'll bet I cleaned that gun six times and never did get all of the crud out of the internals. I'll never do that again!!!!
