OK so whats the opinion as to most accurate out of pistols, lead, plated or jacketed?
most of my shooting is indoor ranges so very little lead.

Elmer said it,and I will repeat. Modern pistols, not revolvers mind you, were designed to fire jacketed ammunition, for military purposes. They also feed the best, in FMJ configuration. I do not know what caliber you are using, or what kind of gun you have, but this is the best answer I can give you.
Now, records have been set with specially set up target pistols, with lead bullets, but this generally involves smoothing the feed ramp, throating the barrel ,and setting up the extractor for the feeding cycle. The pistol, if a standard barrel will lead quickly, unless very hard alloy is used, and the bullets are .001 to .002 over groove diameter. This will delay the leading problem, but not eliminate it.
Jacketed bullets wear out a barrel faster, about twice as fast, as lead.

Gunsmith, I used the term pistols to include autos and revolvers,
i know some do not agree with this but it is my way of thinking.

lead bullets are always more accurate out of a revolver, as the lead can swage up to fill the cylinder, and perfectly align with the barrel. This and the fact that lead fires with less pressure, and allows the barrel a longer life, it is a no brainer. Hollow point bullets, like what the factories make is great for attracting shooters, but does no good on game, or the target range. Any game I have shot with Elmers bullet, died shortly therafter. I shot a deer with a 140 grain xtp bullet in the lungs from 5 feet away, with the 357, and it traveled a long way, until it tired out, and fell while trying to jump over a grape vine. Some yahoos were gutting it out when I got there. They said they were helping me out. Uh-huh. I went to Elmers bullets, and never looked back. I shot a Fallow deer with a 44 special at 50 yards, and it died within 50 yards. It just made a semi- circle, and the back legs went, the front legs went, and steam came out of the entrance and exit holes. It opened a hole on the exit 1 inch in diameter. Perfect in my book.
I have shot from 25 to 400 yards with Elmers bullets, and if I miss, it is my fault. I hit a fire extingusher at 200 yards off hand at a machine gun shoot, and the guys could not beleive it. They asked what I needed a rifle for? I told them for the long shots.
