The other day Huey and I left the Bay and headed north about 15 miles and then north west another 20 or so to Nitnat Inlet.
Huey had a cousin there and he got us a long handled dip net and we headed up into the narrows. We dipped up a GI pack full of crabs.
Got back to the Bay maybe midnight.
Every one in our part of town ate crab, good!!!
Boat........Sandi 16
Engine......Mark 20 Merc
Nope, it was not this summer.

ChrisO
You would have loved it out there, Salmon, silvers and king, ling, halibut, rock fish if you wanted them.
In the fall we dug clams, Pacific Giant, rock oysters(not worth the trouble) steamer clams.
Even ate seal stew one time.

Place...Neah Bay, Washington.
Time....early 50s

the past always seemed better

My 1st vote would go to a nice swordfish steak.  Then anything except scallops & squid.  Their the only seafood that I would substitute with road-kill Opossum

Swordfish is good but I like all shell fish. Squid is excellent when it is prepared correctly a few months back I bribed the chef on the buffet at a resort in the Dominican Republic and ended up with enough Squid fried in garlic and oil to feed several people.

Hi Len,
Maybe it was how it was prepared, but the squid I had, was like chew'en the grissel plate from a mean ol' hog !  But I'd like the chance to try some if it was made the way it supposed to be done so as to not be so rubbery.
Take care !

Like Oktopus and razor clams, got to cook em hot and quick. Or my favorite, raw with some chili sauce.

Ace, What type of boat do you have, or did you charter one?  I don't have one myself, but like rockets, I enjoy watching them.

Chris,
I wasn't trying to smoke anybody with that post.
It happened way back in the fifties.
We had a 16 foot boat, his, and a 16 HP outboard, mine.
Vancover Island wasn't that far.
I was a lot braver then, or maybe a lot dumber.
made that trip 3 times I think.
later,
ace

Hi ACE,
I knew you were talking about a something that happened a few years ago. Boats are just plain nicer than cars in my book !  I like reading about, and watching them !
If you ask my 13yr son,  I'm dumber than I used to be. Thanks again for the story !
Chris
