In early 2008 the Violence Policy Center posted this lying trash about Elmer Keith. It is factually wrong and deliberately misleading. My comments are underlined.

The Gun Blobbers put the inventors and engineers of these death machines on a pedestal. They hold Samuel Colt, John Browning, and Eugene Stoner in high regard. In a continuing series, the VPC Blog will examine each of these death makers in turn. (They should say life savers, my life has been saved by these great men's inventions) E lmer Keith was a boisterous cowboy and inventor of several deadly types of ammunition. He first invented the .357 Magnum at the request of police officers. The .357 Magnum could penetrate the primitive armor vests worn at the time. This obviously means he wanted to kill cops. The .357 Magnum went on to become one of the most common, and therefore deadly, firearms cartridges around. ( Elmer always supported law and order, Elmer staunchly supported police officers. Boisterous?) Later, Elmer Keith created the .44 Magnum cartridge, an even more deadly form of his .357 Magnum. It went on to star in a series of Dirty Harry films, and kill numerous police officers on the streets. ( Elmer created the 44 Magnum for hunting, it has never been used in large numbers against police oficers) Keith’s attempts at killing cops inspired many other devious gun makers. One group created the .454 Casull in 1959. This bullet moves so fast that it can penetrate a Kevlar vest. Another group of police “officers” invented a brass bullet to penetrate car windows, yet it could also penetrate Kevlar vests! ( 454 is Another hunting round, not used against police) On top of this, the dastards invented these bullets before Kevlar vests were even created! How low will the Gun Blobby sink? We all know these are lies(actually I would call it PROPAGANDA, it reads like radio Hanoi or radio Peking in the 60's) the terrible thing is, some ignorant people who havent the good fortune to have learned from E.K (and many others, Col. Cooper for one) will believe this tripe. To those of us who study Keith's work (and learn from it) these bozos are transparent fools.

Did a little search of the major search engines, "Elmer Keith". Here's what I came up with:
Mamma.com: No listing top 10 pages for us, No Cop Killer top 10 pages
(Mamma obviously has no clue)
AltaVista.com: Listing #5 Page 1 for us, No Cop Killer top 10 pages
(Good)
Google: We are listing #10 page 1, Cop Killer is listing #11 page 1
(Don't like that)
Yahoo: listing #4 Page 1, no Cop Killer Top 10 pages
(Very good, just under the paying customers)
MSN Live Search: Page 1 # 4 listing, forum #5 page 1, page 2, and page 3. No Cop Killer top 10 pages
(again, good listings)
Dogpile.com: Page 1 listing#9, Forum page 1 listing #17, Cop Killer page 2
(Dogpile picked up the cop killer from Google, ASK)
Ask.com: Cop Killer Page 2 listing #3, we are page 2 Listing #4.

Now, From what I understand about search engines, most of this dosen't suprise me, the first few listings are usually paid advertising, so anything on the first page is good. and every engine uses a little different system for analizing the content of the page, weighted against how many hits, secret alogrithims, cycles of the moon, etc. What does suprise me is the Google, and ASK list Cop Killer so high (Dogpile just searches/ averages the other engines, so a page 2 cop killer is understandable.) How does Google and ASK.com's weighting systems put the cop killer so high, when all the other engines have it lower then page 10 if at all. Sounds like some far left manipulation, but who knows. Anyway, draw your own conclusions, I got to get back to work.

They should start trying to figure out how many cops Jack Daniels has killed since he came out with OLD NO. 7
Or how many cops Henry Ford killed since he invented the model T.
Or some other such nonsense.
I think only a few hopeless cases fall for this line of thinking.
But when they call Elmer Keith a cop killer ,it makes me mad enough to chew up a keg of nails and spit out a barbed wire fence.

It would be fun to have Old Elmer still around and read that. Bet he would track them down and have a heart to heart with them...

If you read the article, the comment about Elmer being a Deputy Sheriff, and how he was always behind police officers, was mine. I hope it is still there.
These people are COMMUNISTS. They are ANARCHISTS. Anything to confuse the people,take away the truth, and make good seem bad, so that bad seems good. They need taken at dawn, lined up and shot for TREASON in a time of WAR. There acts of SEDITION are inexcusable
That is enought of my ravings.
